Ed Dale’s Thirty Day Challenge

by admin on June 20, 2009

Have any of you heard of The Thirty Day Challenge that Ed Dale does every year in August?

Well I’ve been checking it out and I think it’s pretty cool.

Why?

Well it shows you how to use the latest online marketing tools with the goal of making $10 within your first month. It’s kind of like C-T-P-M on steroids.

It not only teaches keyword research and putting up a site but also gets into things like how to use Facebook, Twitter, Social Marketing, adding automated content, AdWords, Social Bookmarking, getting inbound links, adding affiliate programs and much more. It basically teaches all the same things that SBI! does using the very latest tools… all within 30 days.

What’s different about it is… it’s focused on making money and getting a site completely up in 30 days!

Sounds a little crazy I know. Definitely not being a tortoise is it?

But wouldn’t it be nice to know within 30 days whether your site and niche will make money? That way you won’t waste any more time if it doesn’t work out. You can then change your niche before it too late.

I also like it cause it’s all done with videos. There’s not a lot of reading. Ed sends you an email with a link to that days videos and you go and watch and do the project for the day… which usually takes no more than a couple of hours.

And the beauty of The Thirty Day Challenge is it requires absolutely no money. All the tools are free during those first 30 days (actually 40 days). You use a free version of WordPress to build your site and every other tool is free during the time.

Who Is The Thirty Day Challenge Right For?

Well that depends on where you are at in your online business. If your doing well with SBI! and it’s working great for you then there may be no reason to check out The Thirty Day Challenge.

In fact there are two types of people who are NOT right for the Thirty Day Challenge…

  • Someone who is totally happy with SBI! and making good money and the fit just feels right
  • Someone who is really struggling with SBI! because they don’t have the required skill set… yet

So who is the Thirty Day Challenge right for?

  • Someone who is not a great writer and can’t commit to writing hundreds of pages and is looking for automated ways to add content
  • Someone who needs to make money with their site sooner rather than later
  • Someone who is at least an intermediate in terms of computer skills
  • Someone who has 2-3 hours per day to commit to the project
  • Someone who wants to come out of the tortoise shell for a while
  • Someone who wants to learn the very latest tools and techniques available in online marketing
  • Someone who thinks having their own product is the best way to make money

So What About Site Build It!?

This is by no means a replacement for Site Build It!. It’s a way to learn faster ways to do many of the same things using the same C-T-P-M process. In fact you may go back to your SBI! site with fresh eyes and new tools to make it work even better.

Why are you bringing this up Rick?

Good question. I was thinking we could do The Thirty Day Challenge together during the month of August. Just for that month we could have more offline meetings to discuss The Challenge and support each other. We could also meet regularly online via GoToMeeting to discuss each days projects and generally help each other during this intensive workshop.

The Thirty Day Challenge Has Already Started

Each year Ed Dale does something called the Pre-Season for the Thirty Day Challenge. He goes over the tools he will be using in August and lets everyone get a running start to help them succeed. If you want to learn more you can go to this page that explains The Thirty Challenge with a video by Ed.

OK that’s the scoop. I’m definitely doing it this year myself and have already started. If you’d like to do it with me let me know.

Hey Rick,
I am definitely up for this challenge.

I started the 30 day challenge during the process of setting up my store site, and realized that I needed to stay totally focused on getting the store up and running. At some points the store was a 12-15 hour a day project, which left me no interest in adding MORE to do on the computer, but I did go through the preseason and about a week of last years’ materials and saw the potential of it all. I was somewhat sad that I couldn’t follow through.

For me, August will be perfect timing, since my blog is now up and I can learn ways to enhance all three sites now.

Bottom line is- I’m in! Hope we get some others who are up for the challenge. It makes it fun when several are doing it at the same time.

One note- I found that the time commitment was a little shorter than what you indicated, Rick. For me, I found most days could be completed in about an hour, unless I got really interested in an aspect and went into it deeper. You definietely got further into the challenge last year than I did though, so it might have gotten more intense after that first week and I didn’t ‘t get far enough into it to see.

Hi Rick – I’m game. I just registered and would like to join in.

I think this would be an enhancement to my SBI journey, and I love learning via videos.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I’ve signed up and am going to give it a try. A bit worried about being overwhelmed, but Lori’s comments make me feel a bit better…!
