We can make it happen!

This is a plea to try and get some other people in the group posting and adding to our discussions here!

This can be a really fun and educational experience for everyone, and EVERYONE one in the group has something valid to add.

If you are new, you keep the conversation going with your questions, if you have struggled with something and figured out a way to make it happen, you can help others.  If you know of some cool thing to share to make our websites better, please do!

This post is going to tell you how to make a post, and how to edit someone else’s post (or yours, if you want to add to it or correct an error)

1.  STEP ONE: Create an account so that you can post.  Just register and fill in the info and  you’re done.

2.  Log in….  The status for your log-in is in the top right corner.  Make sure that you are logged in before you post.  To log in, look to the right column where it says META, then click on the link under it that says “Admin.”  Put in your name and password (or create one to register if you have not done that yet).

3.  Dashboard:  You can create a post by looking to the left navigation bar and clicking on the drop-down menu.  Select “add new.”

4.  Type as you would in any word processor.  If you want to make text bold, or center it, the icons are in the gray bar just above where you are typing.  If you hover over each of the icons, you can see what they do.

5. If you would like to add a photo or video, etc.  look just above the gray navigation bar where the icons are and you will see “Upload/Insert.”  Just click on the icon you want and upload the picture or video to the post from your hard drive.

6  If you want to see what your post looks like before publishing it, click the preview button (near the top right).

7.  Use tags to help others search for the topic of your post. The place to add tags is just to the right of the box you will be typing your post in.

8.  Click a Category  (one or more) that best fits your topic (found just below Tags)

9. Click the blue “publish” button.  You can always edit your post later if you want to change or update something.

SEO tags are a bit more complicated, so don’t worry about them right now…..

Just post- don’t worry about getting it perfect or using keywords right now.  We just want you to get your feet wet.  e need you to keep this interesting.

Here are some idea-starters to create your first post:

1. What are you working on today or this week on your website

2. Do you have a burning question about how to do something?

3. What has been the hardest thing to figure out or muddle through so far?

4. Tell us one thing that you have been proud of about your website.

How to edit a post:

From the Website Building Workshop page you will need to log in. Once logged in, select either Posts or Pages from the left navigation bar. Select “edit.”

Go into the post you would like to edit and add to or make chjanges to the post.  Be sure to save your changes by clicking on the blue “Update Post” button.

It is as easy as that!
