I started the website for Slip Resistant Solutions about a year and a half ago. My idea was that Jack and I could build a business of selling chemicals so that businesses and homeowners could treat their own floors to make them slip resistant. It was a really slow start. I even gave up on the idea several times along the way. We hardly had anything when it was time to renew our site.
That was when I decided to spend money that I did not have to attend the SBI Conference in Orlando. I learned so much there and I met so many great people. Rick Hart was one of the many that I met. Then, luckily, we formed the Tampa SBI group. I learn something every time that I go (I never miss unless I am out of town) and I am so grateful that Rick keeps us on track.
Originally, I built a 30 something page website that was getting a small amount of traffic. It was growing but it did not look professional enough. The traffic that was coming was not ordering the products that I was trying to sell. I wanted to do some affiliate marketing but I knew that my site would not give the buyer confidence in purchasing products from us.
That is when I asked Rick for some of his help. I went through SBI coaching and paid for a few hours of Rick’s time. He gave my site a whole new look and I am sure that it has way more than paid for itself in the amount of orders that we are getting. The inquiries are now coming from nursing homes, hotels, commercial buildings, and even people in the UK and India who are interested in becoming distributors of our products. Our website looks very professional and it has changed the way we portray ourselves. Rick has the graphic talents that I just did not have. He changed our site to a 3 column site with an eye catching home page. He helped me organize our site better and put the navigation across the top. I was “stuck” and Rick pushed me to learn more. The keywords were still there and much of the content that I had built. He just made a huge change to the first impression and the navigation.
Now….. I am on to the next challenges!! I need to have a better shopping cart and accounting integration. I want to do affiliate marketing but don’t know where to start! There is so much to learn and without this group I would have given up long ago.

Lynda, nice to hear a little more about your experiences. I hope others will join in and tell us a little more about their sites. Kudos!

Thanks for the kind words Lynda, but the fact is you did most of the hard work of adding all the pages and updating the content. Great work!
Hopefully it proves that you don’t have to be a geek to upload your own HTML.
