Some photo ideas for our site header

by Lori from www.dog-paw-print.com on April 6, 2009

I am including a link to a photo lightbox I made on iStock with some more diversity in the photos. Do you like any of these to include in the header?

The attractive older couple (same woman is also in another shot with a younger guy) are friends of ours from church and the younger guy with the woman is a very good friend of ours. His wife, Lisa Young is a stock photographer…

By the way, Sitesell Education uses our friends in two of the ad shots on their training info and Al, the older guy, is on Sitesells homepage in a rotating group of photos- just a silly aside, but thought it would be fun to mention.

Let’s contribute some ideas to make the header better!

Of course, ideally we want to have actual shots of our group in the header. Someone needs to bring a camera next time so we can make it not only diverse but “real”.

Rick– good idea!! Since our site is called website building workshop, the “workshop” can be us!!

I am thinking that it would be good to have photos of us (or others) working at home on computers though, too, since visitors might be attracted to the idea of working on their sites from home, and creating a business that they can manage while working at home. Do you think that would be valid?

One thing that might be a good thing to do in our meeting is brainstorm about the kinds of photos we would all like to see in the header- WAHM’s, more mature users, some younger people, ethnic diversity, and see if we can target that first in our group with photos. We can fill in the rest with stock photos.

I can volunteer to bring a camera to the next meeting. Unfortunately, the florescent lighting in the room at TBCS is not that conducive to great photos, but we can take them and see what we come up with.

Ya and other folks who may be out of town can submit their “site building” pictures too. The point is we want to show that we are a community of people working together to help each other build successful websites. Right?

Great idea- OK, Rick is throwing the gauntlet down to all of you who participate in our user’s group remotely. Please have someone take a photo of you while you are working and contribute it so that we can use it for the site. We need you!
