Thirty Day Challenge 2009 – A Few Items of Interest

by Lori from www.dog-paw-print.com on July 19, 2009

Since most of us are going to be partaking in the Thirty Day Challenge this year for the first time and might wonder what it is all about, I found a very useful blog by Hendry Lee that has links to all of the the videos for last year’s challenge in order!

Though all of the links to the 2008 challenge have been taken down from the main www.thirtydaychallenge.com site in preparation for the new challenge which begins August 1st, the videos to the 2008 Thirty Day Challenge are still available and can be searched for in YouTube, but prior to this find today of Hendry Lee’s blog, I had not found a good way to find them in any cohesive order.  This solves the problem in case any of you want to check out what was covered last year or get an idea of what might be in store.

In addition, there is a good action list from last year’s challenge that you can quickly scan to see the kinds of tasks that were involved each day.

I hope some of you find this useful.  I am chomping at the bit for the 2009 Thirty Day Challenge to begin!

Thanks Rick,
I also tried to post to our Google Group about the new version of Firefox that is available, but must not be setup with posting priveleges yet. boo hoo :( .

Here is the info on Firefox 3.5.1 in relation to the 30DC in case anyone wants to know:
Just a quick note to let you all know that there is a new version of Firefox, Version 3.5, which is now available from the Mozilla site, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

If you have downloaded Firefox sometime in the past three weeks, you’re good to go. The new 3.5 version was officially released on 6/30/09, but if you’ve used it for a while, you might have an older version installed. You can check your version by clicking on Firefox>About Mozilla Firefox in your top menu and upgrade via the Mozilla link if you need to.

I have been using Firefox as my browser for over two years now and love it. It is cross-platform and there are many cool ways you can customize it so it fits your specific needs, but I wasn’t aware of the new upgrade until this morning, so I thought I’d pass it along.

I checked the 30DC forums to make sure there weren’t any issues with 3.5 before I upgraded, and forum posts confirmed that the new 3.5 version is the official 30DC browser.

However, one of the add-ons suggested in the Preseason material called Fasterfox (an optional addon) is not compatible yet with the new Firefox version. You can either:
-not worry about it and use the default speed for Firefox
-wait for an upgrade to Fasterfox which is likely to come out soon, or
-manually tweak your config files if you are a bit of a brave soul.

If you want to take on the manual tweak, here are instructions from a current forum post I found in the 30DC forum:

Good luck!
Lori
